Alajuela
Alajuela, often referred to as "The Land of Mangoes," is one of Costa Rica's most extensive provinces. Founded in 1782, it is rich in history and natural beauty. Alajuela is home to two of the country's most impressive active volcanoes: Arenal and Poás. The Arenal Volcano, with its perfect conical shape, is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, offering spectacular views, especially at night when its eruptions light up the sky. Poás Volcano, on the other hand, is known for its stunning crater lake and diverse habitats. With its warm climate, friendly locals, and proximity to the international airport, Alajuela is a convenient and delightful base for exploring Costa Rica's Central Valley.
